Hi friend, We just got back from spring break, and we’re officially back to real life… laundry piles, busy schedules, and all. 😅 We spent our week in Fort Worth, Texas (Stockyards, Peppa Pig Theme Park, and lots of good food), with a couple of road trip stops in Kansas City and Oklahoma City along the way. And like most trips… it wasn’t perfect. But there were a few things that worked really well, and a few things I’d do differently next time. So if you’re already thinking about your next trip (hello, summer 👀), here’s what I’d take with me moving forward: ✔️ What worked really well Breaking up the drive (on the way there) Simple, easy hotel stays Having a loose plan (not overplanning) Having travel entertainment ready Managing a long travel day (better than I expected) (Not what I originally planned 😅) I was honestly a little nervous because my kids will sometimes ask “are we there yet?” on a 3-hour drive… But something interesting happened. When they asked how much longer and we said “about 4 hours,” they were like… And they really did. I realized it was all about expectations. When they knew it was a long day from the start, they handled it so much better than I expected. We also built in a longer stop at a park in Oklahoma City (about 90 minutes + lunch), and that helped everyone reset before finishing the drive. Mom tip: Sometimes setting clear expectations upfront makes a bigger difference than trying to make everything feel “short” or easy. 🤍 What I’d do differently Be more prepared for differing opinions (and sibling dynamics) Next time, I’d go in expecting that a little more and think ahead about how to handle it. Shift my mindset sooner The biggest reminder for me from this trip? Family vacations don’t have to be perfect to be worth it. There were moments of chaos, changed plans, and kids not always on the same page, but also so many really good moments that made it all worth it. 💛 Next week I'm sharing more about what we did in Fort Worth, what’s worth it, and what I’d skip, and a little Peppa Pig Theme Park recap too. Stay tuned for more packing tips, behind-the-scenes travel hacks, and inspiration to make your trips feel doable and fun. I’m all about helping you make family travel as smooth as possible, so you can create memories without the headache.
