Hello! A few summers ago, we took a road trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario. It was my first time visiting Niagara Falls, and my first time being in Canada. (We had just gotten passports, which made it feel like a big deal 😄) And I’ll be honest… I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew it was a “big” destination. One of those places you’ve heard about and seen pictures of, but still want to see for yourself. Heading into the trip, I wasn’t sure what it would actually be like with kids. I had done some research, but I still couldn’t fully wrap my head around how it would all work. I wasn't sure how family-friendly it would be, how we’d get around, or what it would actually feel like once we got there. And honestly? It ended up being one of the easiest, most family-friendly trips we’ve taken. If you’re in the early planning stages, I put together everything we did and what I’d recommend here: What surprised me the most about Niagara FallsEverything felt so… doable. We stayed at the Embassy Suites Fallsview, and I would 100% stay there again. The location cannot be beat. We had a room with a view of the Falls, which was incredible. We could even watch the fireworks right from our room, which felt like such a fun bonus at the end of the day. Another thing I loved about staying there? It’s right next to the Incline Railway. I didn’t fully realize how helpful that would be before going, but it made getting around so simple. The Incline Railway takes you straight down to Table Rock Centre and the pathway along the Falls. If you’re deciding where to stay, I shared more about why this location worked so well (and a few things to know before booking) here: You really don’t need your carWe drove our car once the entire time we were there and that was only because we wanted to go to a specific restaurant. Between the Incline Railway and the WEGO bus system, you can get just about everywhere you need to go. And a lot of things are walkable too. It’s also very stroller-friendly, which made a big difference for us. We had our stroller with us the entire time and had no issues getting around even on the Incline Railway and WEGO bus. If you’re planning a trip, I highly recommend getting a Niagara Parks Pass. It bundles several attractions together and includes transportation, which makes everything even easier. If you want a better idea of how it all works, I break it down here: Things we lovedThere’s a really good mix of “wow” experiences and just plain fun things to do with kids. A few of our favorites:
If you want more details on these (and a few more ideas), I put together a full list here: Why this trip works so wellThis is one of those trips that feels big and memorable…but doesn’t feel overwhelming once you’re there. You’ve got:
