Hi friend, I wanted to share a little more about our Fort Worth trip—what we did, where we stayed, and what we actually loved. Because this ended up being one of those trips that felt really doable with kids… and those are always my favorite. 🐄 The Fort Worth Stockyards This is really what the trip revolves around. If you’re staying somewhere in the DFW area, you can definitely experience the Stockyards in a day. But I do think there’s something special about staying overnight. We stayed 3 nights, which was more than enough, but staying even one night would let you slow down a bit. It gives you the chance to:
✔️ What we loved The cattle drive (don’t skip this) It happens twice a day, it’s quick, and it’s fun—but it’s also something your kids will remember. Just walking around and taking it all in Browsing the shops along Exchange Avenue and Mule Alley, stopping for food, grabbing ice cream… it’s not about rushing from thing to thing. It’s about just being there. Live music spots We enjoyed live music at Second Rodeo while we ate dinner, which was a really fun and easy way to experience it. Cowtown Cattlepen Maze Simple, easy, and a good way to let them burn some energy. 🎢 Peppa Pig Theme Park We added this in because our four-year-old loves Peppa Pig, and not going to lie, we all ended up enjoying it. The older boys were great sports and honestly made it fun for everyone. This is definitely geared toward younger kids, but that’s what makes it so easy. It’s:
There are a few rides, a splash pad, and some play areas so it’s more about simple fun than big attractions. Know your kids For older kids, it really depends—but I’d say around age 7 is probably the upper end of who would truly enjoy it. My older boys went because of their four-year-old brother, and they were great sports and made the most of it, but we wouldn’t have visited just for them. 🏨 Where we stayed We stayed at Hyatt Place at the Forth Work Stockyards, and it worked really well for our family. Having the extra space + breakfast included made things easier, and being able to walk to the Stockyards and dinner was really convenient. 💛 One last thing If you’re looking for a trip that’s a little different but still really doable with kids, Fort Worth is such a good option. It’s not overwhelming, there’s plenty to do, and it’s easy to make it work for your family.
