Hi friend, I’m in the thick of planning our family’s Spring Break trip right now…and let me just say—flights for a family of six are outrageous. Our home airport, Des Moines International, is such a blessing because Allegiant offers nonstop flights to so many great Spring Break destinations—Florida, Southern California, Phoenix, Las Vegas, even Austin. But here’s the catch: during Spring Break week, those prices skyrocket. We’d love to go to California (that’s our top choice), but we’d happily do Florida, Arizona, or Texas too. I’ve been playing around with dates—maybe flying out a day early (yes, even if it means missing a day of school) or coming back a day later. I’ve also looked at flying out of nearby airports like Omaha, Kansas City, or Cedar Rapids. And of course, Allegiant only flies on certain days, which makes it even more of a puzzle. Because flights were so pricey, we got creative—we flew Allegiant nonstop to Nashville and then drove seven hours to the coast. It was worth every mile for the white sand, turquoise water, and family-friendly beach towns. If 30A is on your radar, here are a couple of posts to help you plan your trip:
