Happy Tuesday!

Lately I’ve been realizing something about myself as a mom.

I put a lot of pressure on summer.

Pressure to make it magical.
Pressure to make memories.
Pressure to plan fun things and amazing trips and “the best summer ever.”

And honestly?

Sometimes I think about all the things I want to do and all the places I want to go, and then real life happens.

Time.
Money.
Schedules.
Emotions.
Energy levels.
Just… life.

And many times, we don’t get it all done.

And if I’m being really honest, sometimes that leaves me feeling disappointed.

Because in my head, I picture these amazing family memories and these picture-perfect trips where everything goes exactly how I imagined it would.

But reality usually looks a little different.

Someone gets tired.
Someone complains.
The weather changes.
Plans shift.

And honestly?

Maybe this summer doesn’t include some huge, extravagant trip.

Maybe it’s a weekend getaway.
A few simple road trips.
A staycation.
More slow days at home than big adventures.

And that still counts.

Because I don’t actually think kids are measuring summer by how far we traveled or how much money we spent.

I think they remember how it felt.

The late bedtimes.
The hotel pool.
The ice cream stops.
The random roadside attraction.
The movie nights.
The feeling of simply being together somewhere different.

And honestly, I think I need that reminder too.

Looking back, I think my kids have had really great summers.

It’s me putting pressure on it.

Me feeling like I need to create some magical, unforgettable experience all the time.

When really, maybe the goal isn’t to do everything.

Maybe the goal is simply to enjoy some of it. 💕
