Happy Tuesday! 👋 Last week I shared how nervous I was before our trip to Los Angeles. Not because I didn't think we'd have fun. I was worried about the logistics. The traffic. Honestly, I thought LA might end up being one of those vacations that felt more stressful than relaxing. But after spending five days there with our four boys? The thing that surprised me most was how doable it actually felt. And I don't think that happened by accident. Before the trip, I spent a lot of time thinking through what we really wanted to do. Universal Studios Hollywood was a huge priority. So was Hollywood Boulevard. We also wanted to visit Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, The Grove, and a few other spots. Instead of trying to bounce all over the city every day, we grouped attractions by area and tackled one part of LA at a time. I also chose a hotel in Glendale that put us within a reasonable drive of most of the things we wanted to do. Those two decisions alone made a huge difference. And honestly? Other than our Santa Monica beach day, traffic wasn't nearly the issue I thought it would be. That's not to say there wasn't traffic. This is Los Angeles after all 😄 But it never felt overwhelming. The biggest lesson I came home with was this: Sometimes a destination isn't stressful because of the destination itself. Sometimes it's stressful because we're trying to do too much. The more I travel with kids, the more I realize that realistic expectations and thoughtful planning usually matter more than trying to see everything. And that was definitely true in Los Angeles. If you're curious about exactly how we planned our trip and what we ended up doing each day, I shared our full 5-Day Los Angeles Itinerary for Families here. Next week I'll share some of our boys' favorite things from the trip. And spoiler alert... one of them wasn't Universal Studios 😄 What's a destination you were nervous about before visiting, but ended up loving? I'd love to hear 💛 May you LOVE your adventure! |
