Happy September! 🍂 How is it already September 1? The kids have barely gone back to school, our fall calendar is already filling up, and somehow turning the calendar to September makes the rest of the year feel like it is going to fly by. Which has me wondering... Is it too early to start thinking about winter vacation? Maybe. Maybe not. 😆 But I also know how quickly the next few months will go. Before we know it, winter break will be approaching, the holidays will be here, and many of us will be wishing we had something fun on the calendar to break up those long winter months. And honestly, I think that is why I love planning trips. Even when a vacation is months away, having an adventure to look forward to makes the busy weeks at home feel a little more exciting. The good news is that a winter family vacation can look completely different depending on what your family needs. Maybe you want to trade the cold for sunshine and pool time. Maybe you want to lean into winter with mountain views, twinkling lights, and snow. Or maybe you simply want an affordable road trip that gives your family something fun to look forward to. But as I updated my winter-vacation guide, I realized the most important question isn’t necessarily: Where should we go? It’s: What does our family need from this trip? Once I started looking at winter vacations that way, a few destinations immediately rose to the top. Some are warm-weather favorites. Some are easy Midwest getaways. And a couple might surprise you as family-friendly winter destinations. I narrowed the list down to eight trips that feel special but are still realistic to plan with kids. For each one, I included what makes it doable, a simple three-day itinerary, and ideas for where to stay. But which one is the right fit for your family? That depends on the kind of winter adventure you are craving.
Which kind of winter vacation sounds best to you right now? Would you escape somewhere warm, embrace the snow, or plan an easy road trip close to home? Hit reply and tell me. I am always looking for ideas for our next family adventure too! Stay tuned for more packing tips, behind-the-scenes travel hacks, and inspiration to make your trips feel doable and fun.
