Hi Reader!

Holy moly—school’s out and summer vacations and short getaways are officially on the horizon. 🌤

We’ve got a soccer tournament in Minnesota next week (I’ve got my eye on a quick stop at the Mall of America and maybe a fun park), and then our big family vacation to the Pacific Northwest is just a few weeks away.

I am already thinking about what to pack! 😉

BUT—believe it or not 👉 You can enjoy summer travel with your kids—even if it’s messy, loud, and doesn’t go as planned. (which is usually OUR family!)

I used to think a “good” trip meant everything ran smoothly. No delays, no whining, no fighting, no forgotten snacks. But let’s be honest—when does that ever happen with kids?

These days, I expect the hiccups and try to laugh through them (most of the time). Honestly, some of our best memories have come from totally unplanned moments—or right after the kids complained about what we were doing and then ended up loving it.

So as you head into summer travel season, here are 3 mindset tips that help me enjoy traveling with my crew—even when it feels like chaos (just like in the picture below 🤣):

✨ 1. Lower the bar. Seriously.

The less pressure you put on yourself for the trip to go "just right," the more fun you’ll have with what actually happens.

✨ 2. Leave space for magic.

Don’t overschedule. Let your kids linger at the playground or get that second ice cream. You might miss an attraction you were hoping to see—but gain a memory you weren’t expecting.

✨ 3. Choose calm over control.

There will be meltdowns. Yours or theirs. But when you stay calm and roll with it, you turn the day around faster—and show your kids that we can enjoy the ride no matter what.

So before your next trip, take a deep breath and remind yourself: you don’t need perfect plans—you just need a flexible mindset. You’ve got this. 👍 🥰

Stay tuned for more packing tips, behind-the-scenes travel hacks, and inspiration to make your trips stress-free and fun. I’m all about helping you make family travel as smooth as possible, so you can create memories without the headache.
